Big Bass Drop

Big Bass Drop looks simple on the surface, and for the first few minutes it is. You tap to cast, wait for the right moment, and reel in. But the timing windows tighten as you go, and the game slowly turns into a little rhythm exercise where you're reading cues instead of just mashing the screen.

Controls are one-thumb friendly, which is exactly what I want from a casual title. I played most of it on a bus with one hand and never felt cramped. The animations have real weight to them, and the sound design does a lot of heavy lifting to make each catch feel earned.

Battery-wise it's gentle, which surprised me given how lively the water effects are. Turning the frame cap down in settings barely changes how it feels, so if you're low on charge you can throttle it without guilt. It's the kind of game I open when I don't want to think but still want to feel like I'm getting better at something.
